Taking place on June 9th,
2021 the OHL held its U18 Priority Selection Draft. The BWGMHA is so very proud to announce that
2 of our 2005 born Bulldog Alumni were selected in the Draft this year. Congratulations to Jax Wismer (Drafted to
the Niagara Ice Dogs) and Brandon Scott (Drafted to the Barrie Colts)!
Jax Wismer wore the Bulldog with pride up to his Minor Peewee (U12) year where he decided to make the jump the AAA. While with the Bulldogs Jax and his teammates earned a Silver Medal in the York Simcoe Finals in their Novice (U9) year. Jax was named Team Captain in his Minor Atom (U10) season where the team earned many successes throughout the year however suffered a heartbreaking loss in the OMHA All Ontario Semi Finals. While again wearing the “C” in his Major Atom (U11) season, Jax and his teammates capped of his Bulldog career with a Gold Medal in the York Simcoe Finals! Demonstrating a great level of maturity during interviews, Jax shows his appreciation of where and how he has developed on and off the ice. Jax is quick to thank first and foremost his own Family but quickly followed by his Bulldog Family. Attributing a great deal of his success to his Minor hockey development in Bradford through the Bulldog Community and his Coaches, Cerrone Natale, Rob Wismer, John Reilly and “Old Man Mike”.
Brandon Scott also began his Hockey Journey here in Bradford with the Bulldog Family. At a very young age while participating in the Pre-Tyke program it was evident that his development far exceeded his age. Despite his Parents hesitancy, the decision was made to move Brandon up to a House League age group where his current development matched his competition regardless of his age. Brandon’s Parents look back on that moment with great appreciation as our association was willing to move Brandon to a level which matched his development, and this no doubt this had a positive effect on his future within the game of Hockey. The Scott family would also like thank Brandon’s Coaches, Rob Cribbe, Ray Christopherson, Roger Gwilliams and all the Bradford Bulldog Community who had a part in these formative years. Despite only participating in Bradford Minor Hockey for 3 years the Scott Family still consider Bradford and its Hockey Community to be there home.
As the new Vice President of BWGMHA I would like to recognize and thank David Heath, who was serving as Vice President at the time when these Young Athletes were competing within our organization. An organization such as the BWGMHA is not possible without the dedication of its volunteers and members. To that end I would also like to recognize and thank the past and present Board Members, Coaches, Volunteers, and Families. Your dedication, effort, and sacrifice are the driving force behind which a Minor Hockey experience in Bradford can produce success on and off the ice!
On behalf of the association and the Community, I would like to extend our sincere Congratulations to these Aspiring young Athletes and wish nothing but success for your future! We would also like to thank both Jax and Brandon for demonstrating to our current and future Bulldogs that with hard work, dedication, and Love of the Game, they too can realize whatever they aspire to!
Again, Congratulations to both Jax and Brandon!
Your Bulldog Family is Rooting for you!
